Oh my darlings I am sorry that I haven’t written much in a while. SO UPDATES ARE DUE!
In Splinter Dance Company news, we have cast 8 dancers. With the 4 board members that makes 12!
It is incredibly exciting to see the faces of the dancers that I will be working with. Auditions were well attended and exhilarating. There were a lot of amazing dancers that showed up, it was great to see so many people dancing to my work again.
My piece “Media Luna” is a trilogy of modern dance tangos. I want to experiment with the different artists speaking the same sets of lines, with different background material. I want the audience to ask themselves ” Are these people lovers? friends? family? Does it matter? How does their relationship relate to me?” I want to explore the base concepts of tough love, nurturing, gender and passion in different relationships and circumstances. I’ve been listening to some amazing music trying to find what these concepts need to sound like. I love how connected I get with my subconscious when working on choreography, I discover so many things about whats under the surface in my life. Splinter is organizing a choreographers showcase in January, and rehearsals start in August. I am looking at digital video cameras so I can blog the works in progress.. so, stay tuned!
In Abney Park news:

We just got back from Dallas, Texas. We played the Lizard Lounge. The promoters and crowd were great and all of us in the band had a great time. Its hot there, thank god for air conditioning! My fondest memory was that of the vehicles! In one day I rode in a range rover, a town car, a horse and carriage, and a beat up pick up truck. I love the randomness of it all. I also had some rockin Texmex. I really appreciate spicy food. NOM! The tequila was awesome too, those people don’t fuck around with their margaritas.
I am also really psyched about our show at the Columbia City Theater August 9th! I have been organzing fire eaters, aerialists and fashion designers to make this show a feast for the eyes. King 5’s Evening Magazine will be there filming the entire thing. Its also all ages, its been awhile since we could have an all ages show in Seattle, I’m happy we can play one.
On a sad note:

Me and my unicorn Chance did an amazing photoshoot with Libby Bulloff last week. Chance moved to New York this week, and it was a sweet gesture of Libby to capture our last days together. Some people enter your life for a short time and completely change it. I am very glad to know such a wonderful soul, and I wish him well on his adventures.
Finn von Claret is a transient hailing from Seattle via the far off lands of Germany, California and Monaco.
